May apply to you
We do not recommend these until you answer the questions.
Why you see this Your applicant type is “First-Time Internationally Educated Applicant”, and these documents go with your application.
Read the Manual of Admissions (Section 4 is for internationally educated applicants) and the Required Documents list.
ID: one of a Canadian driver’s licence, a provincial health card, a passport or a permanent resident card; or two documents with your official name and current mailing address, such as a lease or utility bill.
A detailed chronological resume focused on your technical experience.
Any document not in English must be translated into English and notarized.
How you know it is done When your ID and resume are ready as PDFs.
Why you see this This licence lets non-engineers practise within a defined scope.
Eligibility: an engineering technology degree or diploma (two years or more) with supervised experience (four years recommended), or a related science degree with at least five years of supervised experience.
You cannot apply for both at once, and there is no upgrade from Eng.L. to P.Eng., but if you later earn an engineering degree, an upgrade path may be considered.
Why you see this The programme is for forcibly displaced people who studied in a programme country, live in Canada or the US and cannot obtain official records.
You need copies of your diploma or transcript.
Access is through a partner organisation that confirms your eligibility. Ask your local settlement agency.
EngGeoMB says it accepts a WES Gateway report.

Why you see this This is the required report for any degree not accredited under the Washington Accord, including Sudanese degrees.
Comes after:
On WES: Canada, Standard Application, purpose “Professional License/Certification”, “Engineering Related Fields”, state Manitoba, and add “Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba” as recipient.
If you have a WES immigration ECA, it is a different report: sign in, choose “Update Report” and the professional licence purpose; you will get a new reference number.
If you studied in Sudan: WES asks for an official English transcript sent by the university and a copy of the degree certificate in English uploaded to your account. Write your WES reference on every document and do not send originals. See the full list on the Required Documents page.
WES confirms level and length only; EngGeoMB’s Academic Review Committee judges your program content.

How you know it is done When WES confirms your order and all documents are received.
Why you see this The ball is with WES, and your EngGeoMB application waits for the report.
Comes after:
WES starts only once every official document has arrived.
Meanwhile, prepare your Application for Admission.
Published processing time: WES: Course-by-Course takes about two weeks for document verification and two weeks for evaluation (up to four if complex). (the body’s time, not your own time to complete)
How you know it is done When WES confirms it has delivered the report to EngGeoMB.
Why you see this For Canadian graduates, and for holders of a Canadian master’s or PhD in a related discipline, the Canadian university sends the transcripts instead of a WES report.
Comes after:
For graduate-degree holders, the Canadian university also sends the undergraduate transcript it holds.
If the university will not send the undergraduate records, you need a WES report.
How you know it is done When EngGeoMB confirms it has the transcripts.
Why you see this The application opens your file. The WES report must exist before you send it.
Comes after:
Use your full legal name as on your passport. Answer every section and write “Not Applicable” where needed; incomplete applications are returned.
List every previous application to an engineering regulator, and any professional registration abroad with proof.
Answer the good-character questions truthfully and attach an explanation for any “Yes”. A false statement may disqualify you at any time.
Email the signed application and documents as PDFs to Apply@EngGeoMB.ca with the subject “Last Name, First Name - Type of Application”.
You will get an acknowledgement explaining how to set up your online profile and pay. Application invoices include the fee and annual dues.
After applying: if you live in Manitoba and are a citizen, permanent resident or protected person, see the Manitoba Careers for Internationally Educated Professionals Program (up to $23,000 non-repayable). Refugee claimants and work or study permit holders are not eligible.
Why you see this EngGeoMB decides after it receives the WES report. Non-accredited degrees usually go to Confidence Level 2, which needs an assessment.
Comes after:
Download the self-assessment checklist for your discipline (based on the CEQB syllabus) and write your course names as on the WES report beside each subject.
If course titles are not specific enough, attach your program syllabus if available.
Keep your resume current: with more than four years in your discipline, the committee may offer the Work Experience Option instead of exams.
Why you see this The Academic Review Committee recommends and the Registration Committee issues the final decision.
Comes after:
Level 1 (CEAB, Washington Accord or CTI, or a suitable Canadian graduate degree): qualified without assessment.
“Program Acceptable”: 9 credit units or less of deficiencies, with no more than 6 of them in discipline-specific topics. You are assigned the Confirmatory Program, or a postgraduate or work-experience waiver.
“Not Acceptable with Deficiencies”: under 30 credit units. You clear the missing topics by courses or exams, plus the Confirmatory Program.
30 credit units or more, or Level 3: intern enrolment is refused, and the letter says whether you qualify for the Specified Scope of Practice Licence.
After the result you have four years to complete what is outstanding, or the file is closed and you must reapply.
Published processing time: EngGeoMB: the Academic Review Committee meets monthly or as needed. No decision time is published. (the body’s time, not your own time to complete)
How you know it is done When you receive a written academic decision.
Why you see this Receiving the decision does not mean the requirement is met: you must complete the option assigned to you.
Comes after:
Three technical exams: two from Group A and one from Group B of your discipline. Online through EGBC twice a year; register in your EngGeoMB profile.
The deadline for Spring/Summer 2027 is January 29, 2027; be ready to write as early as April 1, 2027.
Or the NCEES FE exam instead of the three, once Admissions confirms it in writing. It is taken in Canada or the US only; the fee is US$250 to NCEES per the February 2026 procedures (the Fees page shows an estimate of US$300).
Or courses at the University of Manitoba instead of exams, with the committee’s prior approval.
If you were offered the Work Experience Option, you submit your technical competencies in the CBA system; if not approved after three submissions, you write the exams.
Three failures in any combination (one exam three times, three exams, or the FE three times) mean the application is denied.
Why you see this Only the topics marked “Not met” must be cleared.
Comes after:
Clear them by approved courses (such as the University of Manitoba Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Engineering) or exams. Courses need prior approval, and the transcript must come directly from the institution.
In addition: three confirmatory exams or the FE exam.
Three failures in any combination mean denial, and you have four years from the result to finish.
Why you see this The decision can be reviewed, and there are alternatives.
Comes after:
Reconsideration: write to the committee or staff within 30 days of receiving the recommendation.
Re-assessment: with new information, request one for $125. The Manual says its result is final.
Appeal: send your written reasons to the Registrar (CEORegistrar@EngGeoMB.ca) within 30 days of receiving the notice of refusal.
The Appeal Committee holds a hearing within 90 days of receiving the appeal from the Registrar, with at least 30 days’ written notice to you. You may attend with or without counsel.
The appeal only considers errors of fact, law or procedure. The decision comes within 90 days of the hearing.
If you disagree with the panel’s decision, you may appeal to the Court of King’s Bench within 30 days of receiving it.
Manitoba’s Fair Registration Practices Office can meet you about fairness concerns, but it cannot change the decision.
If the letter says you qualify for the Specified Scope of Practice Licence (Eng.L.), that is an alternative.
How you know it is done When you have chosen your next step. This roadmap does not track the review.
Why you see this Intern enrolment is required before the full licence.
Comes after:
When invoiced, pay the annual intern dues ($268, pro-rated monthly in the first year).
The FAQ says interns must be legally entitled to work in Canada, but the Act and the Manual do not list this. Ask Admissions if your situation is unclear.
When you receive the decision, record it here.
How you know it is done When you receive written notice.
Why you see this A refusal comes in writing with reasons, and you have a right of appeal.
Comes after:

Published processing time: EngGeoMB: the result appears in your profile within four weeks of the exam. (the body’s time, not your own time to complete)
How you know it is done When a pass shows in your profile.
Why you see this Registration lets you use the title, but there are conditions before practising and every year.
Comes after:
If you provide engineering services to the public (consulting or sole practice, even occasionally), you need professional liability insurance, your own or your employer’s: at least $500,000 per claim and either $1,000,000 aggregate per year or an automatic reinstatement feature.
Renew every year: January 1 to December 31, with an absolute deadline of January 31. Late renewal has a fee, and you may be removed from the register.
Professional development: at least 240 credit hours every three years, with detailed records.
Why you see this A refusal comes in writing with reasons, and you have a right of appeal.
