Engineering (all disciplines) licensing in SaskatchewanChecked roadmap

Where you are, what is left and what you can do in parallel: from official sources.

Full roadmap checked against official sources

We checked this roadmap’s official sources between October 7, 2026 and October 9, 2026.

Where do you live now?

Why we ask: Some support programmes require you to be in Canada, and some credential options (such as WES Gateway) are for residents of Canada or the US.

Where did you study?

Why we ask: Country of study, not citizenship. It matters for programmes such as WES Gateway.

Do you have a bachelor’s degree in engineering?

Why we ask: Science, computer science or technology degrees may not qualify for assessment; APEGS then closes the EIT file and checks Engineering Licensee eligibility.

0 of 1 tracked items, self-reported. This is not a likelihood of licensure.

Categories and specialties in this roadmap

All engineering disciplines follow the same route. The discipline matters for the self-assessment and exams, and experience should be in a related discipline.

  • Engineer-in-Training: covered
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.): covered
  • Engineer-in-Training, Canadian Graduate: not covered · Not covered: for graduates of CEAB-accredited Canadian programs.
  • Engineering Licensee: not covered · Listed as an alternative only: for people without an engineering bachelor’s degree who have substantial supervised experience.
  • Inter-association or international mobility: not covered · Not covered: for people already registered in Canada, or licensed in IPEA or APEC countries; even they apply as a member-in-training first.

APEGS does not pre-assess qualifications: eligibility is decided after a complete application and academic documents.

Every first-time applicant starts as an Engineer-in-Training, whatever their experience or place of study, even with a Canadian master’s or PhD.

There is no Canadian-experience requirement and no rule that differs by immigration status.

If you apply to the SINP in an engineering occupation, it asks for APEGS correspondence (EIT approval pending fees, or a letter assigning confirmatory exams). A nomination does not guarantee licensure.

  • Not listed? Job Bank tool

A free Government of Canada tool that shows whether your occupation is regulated in your province and who regulates it.

Support and funding (loans you repay)

  • Foreign credential recognition loans (Government of Canada)

A loan you repay, not a grant. Up to $30,000 for exam fees, training and tuition, through organisations such as Windmill (Canada-wide), Achēv (Ontario), ISANS (Atlantic), SEED (Manitoba), ISSofBC and PICS (BC). Terms and eligibility depend on your status; the page has a search tool for providers near you.

For information only, not advice or an eligibility decision. The regulator has the final say, and your case may differ.
