May apply to you
We do not recommend these until you answer the questions.
Why you see this The order: Gateway, PEBC with both Parts, language, pre-registration, the queue, 800–4000 paid appraisal hours, an 80-hour assessment, the jurisprudence exam, and registration.
Why you see this The mandatory first step for every international pharmacy graduate (except Quebec). PEBC needs the Gateway national ID before Document Evaluation.
Comes after:
Enrol online and pay. You do not need to be in Canada.
Keep your national ID: you write it in the top right corner of the PEBC application. The profile stays active up to 10 years.
A pharmacy graduate from outside Canada counts as an IPG “regardless of citizenship”.
Gateway says that when you apply to the provincial regulator you need appropriate work authorization from IRCC, and pharmacy practical training is work.
Gateway purchases are not refundable; exceptions carry a $50 administration fee.
Why you see this PEBC verifies your degree, licence and identity. This is the assessment for pharmacists, not WES.
Comes after:
Open a PEBC Portal account with your name exactly as on your ID, print the paper application with a photo from the last year, have it witnessed, and send it by tracked mail.
A certified copy of your passport or birth certificate. A PR card is not accepted as primary ID. If you have no primary ID or your names differ, there is a statutory declaration with two IDs.
Your university sends the transcript directly to PEBC (by courier or official email to desubmit@pebc.ca), issued within a month of arrival. If your university is not yet PEBC-approved, send the syllabus.
Any document not in English or French: an original certified translation, stamped and signed on every page.
If not all documents arrive within two years of payment, the file closes without refund.
Published processing time: PEBC tells you what is missing within six weeks; the evaluation takes up to eight weeks once the file is complete. (the body’s time, not your own time to complete)
How you know it is done When you receive the successful results letter and the exam application appears in your Portal.
Why you see this PEBC needs an original declaration instead of a licensing statement. Some provinces (such as Saskatchewan) require prior licensure for their programs, so check your province’s steps.
Comes after:
An original declaration: “I have never been licensed anywhere in the world.”
How you know it is done When the declaration reaches PEBC.
Why you see this PEBC allows it for people completing their program outside Canada and the US.
All documents at least eight weeks before the exam deadline, a provisional transcript from the university, and the final transcript showing the degree at least five days before the exam.
How you know it is done When the final transcript reaches PEBC.
Why you see this PEBC needs transcripts and licensing statements directly from the institutions. We found no published rule for institutions that cannot respond.
Write to PEBC, explain your situation and ask in writing which route is accepted. Do not rely on anyone offering substitute documents.
How you know it is done When you have a written answer.
Why you see this NAPRA’s model, followed by most regulators: all four parts in one sitting, and the overall score is not considered.
IELTS Academic: reading 7, listening 7, speaking 7, writing 6.5. OET: B, B, B and C+ for writing.
Results are valid two years from the test date and go to Gateway as it instructs (IELTS through the online portal, OET by email to gatewayinfo@napra.ca).
SCPP requires English. Upload the result to your SCPP profile, and have the testing organization mail the original report to SCPP too. It must come before any appraisal or assessment.
Results must be within two years before you are accepted into the AAP; mind the queue.
How you know it is done When SCPP accepts your language evidence.
Why you see this Gateway shares the result with the regulator.
Scores: IELTS Academic 7/7/7 with 6.5 writing, OET B/B/B with C+ writing, in one sitting. Results are valid two years.
Why you see this From January 2027, after Document Evaluation you go straight to Part I. The evaluation is valid five years: if you do not pass Part I in that time, you need a re-evaluation.
Comes after:
Apply in the PEBC Portal by noon ET on the deadline and choose English or French. Book a Prometric centre (in Canada and abroad) or a remote exam.
2027 sittings: February (deadline November 19, 2026), May (February 18, 2027), July (May 13, 2027), November (August 5, 2027).
Four and a half hours on computer. Results are pass/fail only, within six weeks. Both parts must be passed within three years of each other.
Exam eligibility depends on sanctions compliance. If you will test outside Canada, ask PEBC about your country before paying.
Why you see this After passing it you are a “PEBC Certified Pharmacist”. Certification alone does not give the right to practise.
Comes after:
Choose six sites (or at least three); they cannot be changed after you submit. For French, register for the Montreal centre; not every sitting includes Montreal, so check that sitting’s site list before applying.
Eleven stations of seven minutes each, about six and a half hours at the centre. 2027 dates: February 21, May 30, November 6.
Why you see this After three failures, a fourth and final attempt is by petition and needs Board-specified remediation.
Comes after:
A feedback report arrives about eight weeks after results. Remediation must start after the results letter and finish within a year of the fourth attempt, with proof at PEBC three weeks before the exam.
Hand re-scoring only checks data entry, requested within 75 days. Exam content and attempt limits cannot be appealed.
Why you see this SCPP says not to submit until you can provide every document. The PEBC certificate is needed before the program.
Comes after:
Complete the online form and pay. After acknowledgement, upload as PDF: the PEBC certificate, your language result, a letter of standing from every regulator you were registered with, and a notarized copy of a Canadian passport or Canadian government photo ID.
The letter of standing must reach SCPP directly from the regulator (not from you or Gateway) and is valid one year from its date. Language and ID: mail the original or a notarized copy to SCPP in Regina.
If you hold only a foreign passport, ask SCPP: the document list says Canadian.
Gateway also says to apply to SCPP from your profile there. Confirm with SCPP.
Why you see this All must be done before practising membership.
Comes after:
Billing in Community Pharmacy before you start the appraisal. Prescriptive Authority Level 1 Basics is mandatory.
Minor Ailments and Self-Care Basics if you will practise in a community pharmacy.
NAPRA’s Diagnostic Tool and Learning Modules (DTLM): SCPP’s paper says “required” in one place and “recommended, may be required by the Registrar” in another. Ask SCPP.
Why you see this The appraisal must be in a Saskatchewan pharmacy, at one site, paid (not volunteer).
Comes after:
The appraiser needs 6,000 hours (three years) of Canadian practice, and you must have no financial interest in the site. You may do the appraisal at the pharmacy where you already work as an assistant or clerk, if SCPP approves the site and appraiser.
You and the appraiser complete and sign the site application. Do not start before written approval.
Fee: CAD 656 plus tax · Intern registration, international applicants (timing not stated) · SCPP
How you know it is done When SCPP approves the site, appraiser and start date in writing.
Why you see this The length depends on your competence, and it must finish within two years of starting.
Comes after:
Work under direct supervision, fill in the Appraisal Report with examples of NAPRA competencies, and meet your appraiser regularly. The appraiser sends the report to SCPP.
If there are fundamental gaps, SCPP may stop the appraisal until you get more education.
How you know it is done When SCPP approves the Appraisal Report.
Why you see this SCPP assigns the assessor, not at your workplace. You need a “yes” on every competency.
Comes after:
Pay the assessment fee before starting and sign the release. When offered a placement you have three business days to accept. It may be anywhere in Saskatchewan at your own cost.
If unsuccessful, you may have to redo the appraisal.
Why you see this The final phase. The licence entitles you to the title “licensed pharmacist”.
Comes after:
An enhanced police check (E-PIC) through Sterling’s SCPP page, not older than six months. If outside Canada or you have any record, contact SCPP first.
Malpractice insurance of at least $2 million per claim with a deductible of at most $5,000. The licence expires with the insurance.
Submit the practising membership application online and pay. The year runs July 1 to June 30.
Licensed in another Canadian province: not covered · Not covered: the labour mobility route.
Pharmacy technician: not covered · Not covered: a different profession. SCPP says an internationally trained pharmacist cannot practise as a technician.
Saskatchewan has no bridging program. Instead SCPP runs its Appraisal and Assessment Program, which takes only 10 applicants at a time; others queue.
SCPP accepts the Qualifying Exam for three years from the latest pass.
SCPP fees change on January 1 each year and the 2027 schedule is not yet published: the amounts here are for 2026.
If you disagree with the Registrar’s decision: a written appeal to Council. No deadline is published.

A loan you repay, not a grant. Up to $30,000 for exam fees, training and tuition, through organisations such as Windmill (Canada-wide), Achēv (Ontario), ISANS (Atlantic), SEED (Manitoba), ISSofBC and PICS (BC). Terms and eligibility depend on your status; the page has a search tool for providers near you.
