Need food or clothes? Help exists
First month · Home, children, work and language
No shame — food banks and community groups exist for exactly this time.
- Where to go
- Call or visit 211, your settlement agency, mosques and community associations.
- What to bring
- Often ID and proof of address
- Some places ask for nothing
- What to do, step by step
- Call 211 or search by postal code for the nearest food bank.
- Ask about opening hours and the area they serve.
- Ask about free or low-cost winter clothes for children.
- See the “Benefits & subsidized housing” tab here for your province’s programs.
Note: each food bank has its own rules and area. Never pay anyone to register you.
